3rd Regional Research Conference – Call for Abstracts
THEME: DATA, INNOVATION AND TECHNOLOGY FOR LAND GOVERNANCE
Date: 12th - 13th June, 2024
The National Land Commission in conjunction with National Research Fund (NRF), Ministry of Lands, Technical University of Kenya (TUK) and Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) invites researchers, policy makers, practitioners, private sector players, civil societies, and other stakeholders to submit papers to be presented during the 3rd Regional Research Conference to be held on 12th to 13th June, 2024 in Nairobi.
The theme for the Conference is “Data, Innovation and Technology for Land Governance” and seeks to emphasize the use of accurate land information in tracking the implementation of land policies, enabling informed lesson learned, and generating best practices. The incorporation of innovation and technology into land governance is considered a transformative factor in addressing the challenges of insecure land rights for all citizens. The absence of actionable data on land poses a significant obstacle to effective land governance in the region.
The 3rd Regional Research Conference is poised to showcase prominent researchers in the realms of land governance, data, and innovation. Experts and relevant stakeholders will present their findings from completed research projects and share their expert knowledge with a broad audience, including stakeholders from the sector, policymakers, and academia. The conference creates a forum for extensive discussions and the exchange of insights among participants, fostering a collaborative environment for advancing knowledge and initiatives in the specified fields.
SUB THEMES
Interested researchers, policy makers, practitioners, private sector players, civil societies, and other stakeholders are invited to submit abstracts on the following broad thematic areas;
- Land Information Management Systems and Innovative Technologies for Effective Land Governance in the Region eg. Surveying, Mapping, Land Use Planning,Ardhisasa,
- Land Data Policy, Regulatory, and Institutional Frameworks.
- Strengthening Governance of Land and Natural Resources through Research and Digital Innovations.
- Big Data and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Land and Natural Resources Governance
REQUIREMENTS
- Interested stakeholders, practitioners, policymakers and academia to submit a concept written in English to the National Land Commission through the email indicated below.
- Each abstract should not be more than 250 words and should include:
a) Title
b) Thematic Area
c) A brief biography of the author(s) including qualifications and research experience.
d) Authors who meet the requirements will be invited to present during the Regional Research Conference
IMPORTANT DATES
• Concepts should be submitted via email to conference@landcommission.go.ke
• Email Subject: 3rd Regional Research Conference to be received no later than 6th May 2024.
• Decision to accept the concept papers with an invitation to prepare the full paper will be announced via email by 10th May 2024.
• The full research papers completed by authors and submitted by 24th May 2024.
• Those who complete the papers will be invited to present during the Regional Research Conference.
