Kenya National Research Festival 2024- Call for Poster Presentations
Theme: Research Partnerships and Collaborations for Socio-Economic Transformation: Catalyzing National Development Through Research.
In recognizing the transformative power of research, the National Research Fund (NRF) in collaboration with Young Scientists Kenya (YSK) will host the inaugural Kenya National Research Festival under the overarching theme “Research Partnerships and Collaborations for Socio- Economic Transformation” The event emphasizes showcasing the nation’s research and innovation landscape through exposing cutting-edge research projects and opportunities to young scientists and seasoned researchers.
The National Research Fund cordially invites Kenyan researchers (TVET,Undergraduate, Graduate, postgraduate, postdocs, and lead researchers.) to submit abstracts and poster presentations for the Inaugural Kenya National Research Festival in any of the following thematic areas:
- Health and Life sciences
- Agriculture and Food Security
- Manufacturing and Engineering
- Energy: Renewable and Non-renewable
- Natural resource, Climate Change and Adaptation
- Education and Social Sciences
- Digital Transformation and Transport
- Critical National Infrastructure
- Sustainability, Safety, and Resilience

Authors are requested to submit their abstracts and posters in soft copy within the specified deadline.
Abstract Format
Each abstract should not be more than 250 words. It should illustrate research motivation, objectives, outcomes and the impact of the project in brief and bear the following details.
- Author/ Presenter name (s)
- Presentation title
- Organization/ Institution name
- Contact information including email, physical address, and phone number.
Guidelines for Poster Submission
Posters should capture the visual representation of the project, highlighting some of the achievements in detail. The submitted posters will be reviewed, and NRF will provide exhibition spaces for the most successful posters. Accepted posters will be prominently displayed within the event venue featuring a dedicated poster session to facilitate lively discussions among the presenters and attendees.
Posters should concisely elucidate the research questions being addressed and their significance to the broader research community.
Recommended Poster Format
Statement of Topic: A short title
Abstract (Description): Give a short description of your research project.
Purpose: What was the intent or goal of the research project? What did you want to solve and learn?
Background/Significance: What was the problem and why was it important? What knowledge are you building on?
Method: What was the design? What was the data? What tools were used? How was the data collected and analyzed?
Results: What were the findings? Were they impactful to society and/or academia?
Conclusions: What is the overarching lesson to be learned from the findings?
Posters that adhere to the above-recommended format will effectively communicate the essence of research, from objectives and methodology to the results and their broader impact. The provided information on the posters must be authentic and evidence-based. The printed posters should not be bigger than 48cm by 60cm.
